Olympic Park — So vast, choosing the right entrance is half the battle
Olympic Park in Bangi-dong, Songpa-gu, is where the 1988 Seoul Olympics stadium complex became a public park after the games. The problem is its vastness. Many people get tired walking from the main entrance to their destination. Therefore, the first step for this park is to choose your subway exit according to what you want to see.
Entrances by Destination
Olympic Park Station is a transfer station for Lines 5 and 9, and Mongchontoseong Station (Line 8) and Hanseong Baekje Station (Line 9) are also adjacent to the park. The station you alight at varies depending on your destination.

The most popular Lone Tree is far from the main entrance. If you alight at Olympic Park Station without thinking, you'll have to walk quite a distance across the lawn, so if the Lone Tree is your destination, it's better to go to Hanseong Baekje Station.
How to Photograph the Lone Tree
It's called 'Lone Tree' because only one tree stands in the middle of a vast lawn. However, "there's nothing in the background" is only half the story — depending on the angle, apartments or Lotte World Tower might appear in the frame. The trick to keeping the background clear is to shoot from the west side of the lawn towards the eastern sky. If you shoot from the opposite side, buildings will be in the way.

The Mongchontoseong area, which is good for walks, is closed at night, so if you're taking a late evening stroll, you should plan your route towards the plazas and lawns.

Exit within 10 minutes is free. However, on concert days, the parking lot and surrounding roads get congested, and the 88 Lawn Plaza, where the Lone Tree is located, may be completely closed off during large-scale performances. It is advisable to check the performance schedule before visiting.
