A food content genre that originated in Korea. It is a format where the performer eats food on video, characterized by the combination of visual and auditory stimuli and Korean-style 'Han Sang Charim' (full table setting) culture.
It started in the late 2000s on Korean internet broadcasting (AfreecaTV) and spread globally, and "mukbang" was officially listed in the Oxford English Dictionary in 2021. The English-speaking viewership significantly increased during the COVID-19 pandemic.
