Street World Fighter: Directors' War — Kooyoung Back Wins, Final Rankings and Every Mission

Mnet's Street World Fighter: Directors' War (SDF) premiered on August 18, 2026 and ended with a live finale on October 20. The winner was Kooyoung Back, a choreographer with 24 years in the business. Kasper finished second, BabyZoo third and Bada fourth. The show did not pit crews against each other. It judged one choreographer's direction at a time: the formations, staging, casting and even camera work that a "performance director" is responsible for. Winning a mission put the director's name in the stage credits. This guide is for viewers looking up the results after the finale. It covers the final rankings, the missions from episode 1 to the final, the ten directors, where to rewatch, and the current status of the Seoul concert.

Final Results — Kooyoung Back Wins, Kasper Second

The last round was the Cheer Performance Mission, which brought the energy and fan culture of sports to the stage. Each of the four finalists picked a different sport.

Kooyoung Back built his marathon stage around the idea that a runner who seems to be alone never really is. After his name was called, he said that as a dancer he had always kept dancing with a hollow, empty feeling somewhere inside. Four years ago he fell short of the final on Street Man Fighter; this time he took the top spot in a directors' competition. The winner's prize is the chance to direct the opening stage of the 2026 MAMA AWARDS. The rankings, his remarks and the prize come from Newsis's October 21 report (in Korean).

A preview article published on the morning of the finale said that choreographer Ian Eastwood, who has worked with SHINee's Taemin and Justin Bieber, would join as a special judge, alongside judges Shim Jae-won and Honey J. The same article said the winner would be decided by combining an online pre-vote, live text voting during the broadcast and Mnet Plus voting. The online pre-vote ran on the final teaser videos posted to the show's official YouTube channel, The CHOOM, until 6 p.m. on October 19. The reports we checked did not give the weighting of each vote, so we have left it out (Tenasia, October 20; October 18).

From Episode 1 to the Final — Missions and Eliminations

The main episodes aired every Tuesday at 10 p.m. KST, simulcast on Mnet and tvN. The elimination battles, Last Stage: 24H, were released separately on TVING. The dates below are broadcast dates; the full episode VODs on Mnet Plus usually went up the following day.

The eliminations went in this order. Renan and Hash were the first to leave, and the show continued with eight directors from episode 5. In the solo artist mission, the four directors the artists did not pick went into the second Last Stage, and Nain was eliminated. The third Last Stage, which used umbrellas as the key prop, sent home Simeez and Minjun Jeong. In the final Last Stage, released on TVING on October 13, Ingyoo was eliminated, which confirmed Bada, Kooyoung Back, BabyZoo and Kasper as the finalists. We put this together by checking episode reports from Tenasia and Ilgan Sports against the clip titles on the official Mnet Plus video list.

Each Mission's Stages and Results

The Signature Mission (episodes 1–3) had two steps. First, in the signature choreography takeover, each director had two hours to create a new version of their opponent's signature choreography, and choreographer credits were decided by nine votes: eight choreographers plus the public judges, who represented the audience. Then, in the Last Run, each director cast dancers from a pool of 400 and completed a full piece, this time for the director credit. In three of the five matchups, the result flipped.

Ingyoo vs BadaIngyoo "Smoke" / Bada "like JENNIE"Ingyoo 5:4Bada

Renan, Kasper and Bada lost the episode 1 takeover but won the Last Run and the director credit. In other words, the takeover winner and the Last Run winner were different people in three matchups. According to the episode 1 report, Renan put up aespa's "Armageddon" and Simeez put up IVE's "BANG BANG", while the Nain–BabyZoo matchup used Hearts2Hearts's "RUDE!" and ALLDAY PROJECT's "WHERE YOU AT" (episode 1 report, episode 2 report).

The Title Sequence Film Mission (episodes 3–4) chose the overall director for "Royalty," the show's official track, and was billed as a director's version of the classic rank mission. The one director chosen would direct the other nine as dancers and also had the power to name elimination candidates. The job went to Kooyoung Back.

The K-pop Solo Artist Direction Mission (episodes 5–6) had teams of two compete to direct performances of NCT 127 member Taeyong's "Wacka Wak" and ALLDAY PROJECT member Bailey's "CAN'T KILL ME." Taeyong picked the Nain–BabyZoo team at the midpoint, then switched in his final choice to the Bada–Kooyoung Back team, whose stage featured confetti, a wind machine and a forehead-flick dance move. Bailey chose the Simeez–Ingyoo team and its "Hydra Queen" concept, which mixed red fabric, heels and krump (episode 6 report).

The Super Kids Direction Mission (episode 7) was a 3-vs-4 team battle to make a dance film with kid dancers from Korea, China, Japan and elsewhere. The Kooyoung Back–BabyZoo–Kasper team used water bottles as a prop to carry the message that the joy of dance passes to the next generation. Their film scored 100 points for completeness, and Kasper ranked first in the individual evaluation (Ilgan Sports, September 30).

The Brand Performance Film Mission (episode 8) asked the five remaining directors to make solo performance films to the same mission song under the theme "ONE MOVES US ALL." Judged by director Kim Hyung-seok, art director Sung Won-mo and Shim Jae-won, BabyZoo was named "Movement Director" and became the first to go straight to the final. BabyZoo then chose Kasper as the second finalist (Tenasia, October 7).

Where to Rewatch and Official Stage Videos

  • Mnet Plus: The official program video page has full VODs of episodes 1–9, full-length stage videos and clips. On the list we checked on October 26, the episode 9 full VOD was uploaded on October 21 and runs 2 hours 39 minutes. Some videos may require a login or a paid membership.
  • TVING: The main episodes and Last Stage: 24H were released on TVING.
  • YouTube, The CHOOM: The show's official channel, which posts full-length stages and episode clips. The choreography video titles in the final results table above come from this channel. Highlights include the final stages, the full version of the "Royalty" title sequence and the "Wacka Wak" stage.

If you want to study the formations, stage-only videos labeled "full version" or "choreography video" work better than the episodes, which cut in reactions and interviews. Short re-uploads on channels other than Mnet's official ones may be edited differently or lower in quality than the originals.

Concert Status — Only Seoul Is Going Ahead

The post-show "ON THE STAGE" nationwide tour has lost four of its five cities; only Seoul remains. Newsis's October 21 article described a five-city tour starting in Seoul and continuing to Gwangju, Busan, Daejeon and Daegu. However, an Mnet notice on the NOL Ticket page for the Busan show, which we checked on October 26, announces that the Gwangju, Busan, Daejeon and Daegu shows are canceled. According to the notice, tickets for the canceled shows will be fully refunded with no cancellation fee, and each ticketing site will explain its own refund process. The Busan page we checked showed the status "sales canceled."

What Cover Dancers Can Take From It

In every mission, the show cared less about the finished choreography than about how that choreography was put on screen. That makes it useful for teams filming cover dance videos, too.

Reworking means rebuilding the structure. The two-hour remake in episode 1 was not about copying someone else's signature choreography. It was about making a new version and going head to head with the original. Deciding which signature moves to keep and how to change the rest is what separates a straight cover from a reinterpretation.

Direction starts with casting. The Last Run was a contest from the moment the directors chose who to pick out of 400 dancers, and it ended up reversing three takeover results. For cover dance crews, too, who stands in the center and who stands on the sides sets the first impression of the video.

A prop can compress a message into one scene. The umbrellas and cubes in the Last Stages and the masks and water bottles in the Super Kids mission all showed a piece's message in a single image. In a cover video, choosing one prop and bringing it back at the start and the end makes the idea behind the video come across.

Plan the camera path along with the choreography. In the episode 8 brand film mission, Kasper was recognized for the camera-movement design and earned a ticket to the final. When filming a cover, deciding the camera positions and moves together with the choreography is a good reference point. You can follow this thread further in Dance Cover Trends, H2 2026.
